to the Newsletter for Receptionists!
Thank you for your positive comments about our Newsletter.
We have learned that many of you didn’t realise that we are an Australian company, which was established by an Australian, with content relevant to receptionists worldwide.
I was born in Adelaide and worked as a receptionist/secretary, before venturing to the US where I travelled for twelve months. I went to London and then returned to New York and took a job at the United Nations, working with the United Nations Development Programme for three years.
I came back to Australia to visit a couple of times and eventually decided to return for good. I married and went into business with my ex-husband. At one time, during a hiatus from business, I worked with a management consultant in Cairns, who suggested that I pass on my experience to others. This was the genesis of Reception Plus. I set about developing a seminar to encourage receptionists and realised that one thing receptionists miss out on is going out to lunch, so I included lunch.
Receptionists from all over the country appreciate and benefit from our seminars where they are reminded of some things and informed of others. It’s also an opportunity to get together with others in similar positions and new friendships are formed.
Come along to one of our seminars if you can. If not, I hope that you gain some encouragement and information from our newsletters.
This newsletter is published several times a year by Reception Plus. We provide opportunity for inspiration and interaction for receptionists through motivational, informative seminars – see our website

If you are shy and working as a receptionist, you will be finding it challenging to make people feel comfortable and welcome.
Perhaps you don’t speak up because of your shyness and you are often being asked to repeat yourself.
You don’t need to become an excessively outgoing person, but if you are to succeed in reception you will need to become more confident and assertive.

As you will see by our list of seminar dates, Pamela travels all over the country holding ‘The Finishing Touches’ seminars. She also ventured to New Zealand early in the year and held seminars in Wellington and Auckland.
One company from Auckland made a booking for two receptionists, but when we sent off the confirmation they advised us that they didn’t want to send their receptionists to the seminar in Auckland, they wanted to send them to the next one in Sydney as a treat! How lucky were they? They did some shopping and went to see ‘Billy Elliott’ on stage while they were here.
Our seminars provide an opportunity for managers to show their appreciation of their receptionists, and we certainly like to hear stories like this! Let us know if you have an encouraging story to share.
